Gay Weddings | Same Sex | Rudy & Marta Photography

Gay Weddings are starting to slowly become a part of the norm, as it should be.  Here in Florida we have a unique positioning on everything that happens in the world.  There have been a couple of times that I forget that we’re in the South.  Sometimes, people have to remind me that we’re in the South with their Southern Hospitality.  I realize that Orlando is a melting pot of people from all over the world.  There are people from all over the United States that live here.

Take Marta for instance.  I met her while we were working at SeaWorld while she was here on a student/work visa.  Several people from outside of the country come here for all sorts of reasons.  They bring their culture.  They bring their heritage.  More importantly, they bring their views.  Yes, Florida is technically in the South.  Yet we have the views of many different cultures and backgrounds.  It only seemed natural that Florida would continue to progress alongside with the rest of the world.  I’m happy that our state decided to allow the marriage of same sex couples.  Gay Weddings are just like any other weddings.

“Gay weddings are simply weddings”

Late last year I attended the One Love workshop.  There I learned so much about the Gay Wedding Industry and how to approach any and all situations that could arise.  We had a very good time talking about how to prepare ourselves as wedding vendors for the new coming of this portion of this industry.  I’m not going to lie to you, I didn’t know what to expect.  I showed up and things started to happen.  I didn’t really think about it.  Yeah, I was nervous, but everything seemed so natural.  Love is love.  I know everyone says it, but that’s because it’s true.  There’s something very comforting about having that one person in the world that gets you.  That one person that understands you better than anyone else.  Someone that you want to spend your time with.  Someone that you want to be with.  Gay weddings are simply weddings.

“Holy crap!  I was so excited!  Our first gay wedding!”

This past April I had the opportunity to work with one of our first same sex couples.  Holy crap!  I was so excited!  Our first gay wedding!  Heck, we’re still editing images from the wedding and I am truly in love.  The amount of emotion that was there was truly outrageous, in a good way.  It makes me wonder if all gay weddings are like this.

I mean, imagine everyone saying that you can’t marry the person that you love?  After years of being together, you finally get the chance.  You finally get the opportunity.  A day that you had never imagined would happen.  It was a glorious day.  Five minutes into shooting there were tears.  As a wedding photographer, I felt closer to these two than I have to anyone else.  The raw emotion moved me.  It challenged me.  It pushed me further than I’ve ever been pushed before.  Here are some of the images from one of our first gay weddings that I’ve been posting on my Instagram account.
