How to Get the Best Wedding Photos | Wedding Tips

You’re on Instagram, Facebook, or the Knot.  You’re looking at all these wedding photographers.  All their pictures are so pretty and you start to imagine how your wedding photos will come out.  How do you get there?  What can you do in order to ensure that you get the best wedding photos?  I’ve thought about this for the last couple of weeks and have a few tips that might help engaged couples and soon to be married couples.

“If you really want to get the best wedding photos, then invest in your wedding photographs.”

  1. Hire a Good Photographer

I know this is somewhat obvious.  Also, I may be a little biased, but it’s true.  There have been so many horror stories about couples hiring the $800-$1500 photographer and waiting months before getting anything to show from their wedding day.  Some couples don’t receive anything for years after they’re married.  If you really want to get the best wedding photos, then invest in your wedding photographs.  It’s the only thing left after your wedding.  Even still, do your research.  Ask around.  Read reviews. More importantly, make sure that you all “click” and have a similar vision for your wedding day.  The wedding experience might be completely different than expected.winter park park avenue wedding photography

  2. Have an Engagement Session

There’s a reason our packages all have one.  They’re not there to look good.  It’s a great way to experience how we work with the camera.  It’s seamless.  Not only that, but we get to spend some time together and see how you two interact in front of the camera.  Trust me, you want to have that experience under your belt on the wedding day.luxury orlando engagement photographers

  3. Let them do their job

For us, we want to bring your vision as well as our own to life.  I want to get the best wedding photos, and I’m sure you do too.  Of course, you have some ideas in your head and that’s okay.  In the end, I don’t endorse the use of a photo list.  Here’s why.  As a creative, it’s a lot harder to recreate someone else’s work than creating my own work.  I know that some people are all about photo lists, but it prevents your photographer from really soaring and doing what made you fall in love with their images in the first place.  Trust them.  You won’t regret it.get the best wedding photos

  4. Make time

I can’t emphasize this enough.  There have been times when we end up with 15 to 20 minutes of shooting time for wedding portraits.  At the end of the day, the less time that we have, the less wedding portraits you get.  Make time for it.  Formals that happen right after the ceremony take time as well.  We try to do them as fast as possible, but we can’t prevent that one relative from disappearing for the formals, even though they know they should be there.  We would love to have 45 minutes to an hour at best.  Also, plan sometime in between dinner and the beginning of the party.  The reason I say that is because things are different as the sun goes down.  That light is oh so beautiful right before sunset.  All in all, if you want to get the best wedding photos, then plan for it.  It takes time.

“All in all, if you want to get the best wedding photos, then plan for it.”
