Inspiration and Coffee | Rudy and Marta Photography

This past Saturday I had the pleasure and luxury of having coffee with one of my friends and met a new one.  I’ve known of Gian Carlo (from Gian Carlo Photography) for a very long time, but Saturday I finally got the chance to get to know Gian Carlo.  Alongside with that I was finally able to meet with Éctor Javier from Thirty Three and a Third Photography.  That morning was nothing more than a couple of guys meeting up for a morning coffee and pastry to the outside world, but trust me when I say that shit got done and inspiration was had.

“That morning was nothing more than a couple of guys meeting up for a morning coffee and pastry to the outside world, but trust me when I say that shit got done and inspiration was had.”

Here’s a personal note that leads to why I’m so grateful for this meeting.

I have been stuck in a rut.  I haven’t been able to get out of this rut for a very long time.  I went to SPI back in January with Marta, which I was and still am super grateful for it.  That being said, after that conference I was pumped and full of inspiration.  I was ready to get things started.  I was ready to get the ball rolling.  At the same time I got a promotion at my day job.  The promotion led to less time that I could devote to the things that I love most including playing guitar, photography, but most of all spending time with Marta.  I was in a place of turmoil.  I was in a very dark place.  I began to look at myself and wonder if it was all worth it.  I began to think that maybe this is what it meant to be successful in corporate America.  I started to hate everything.  I started to become bitter.  I started to lose track of time and days.  Slowly I became less and less like myself.  It’s silly, now that I think of it, to have so much fall on something as simple as getting a promotion.  Anyways, I have officially stepped down from the position and have slowly begun to go back to the position that gave me more time and energy to be creative, to focus on this business that I love, but more importantly to embrace the relationship that I have with Marta and the family that I’d like to start with her.

” These guys have probably been some of the inspirational and all around great guys that I have had the pleasure of meeting.”

In come Gian Carlo and Éctor.  These guys have probably been some of the inspirational and all around great guys that I have had the pleasure of meeting in this crazy industry.  With the support of these guys I feel like I can take on anything that is thrown my way from the photographic world.  That feeling of being able to take on anything that is thrown my way is very similar to that feeling that I got when I left SPI just a few months ago.  It left me wanting to be able to do more.  Call it inspiration or being driven, but it’s a good feeling.

“Slowly, a sort of creative session is coming to mind.  Images that I’ve been looking at for inspiration on Pinterest have been letting me go further into what story I want to tell.”

About a week before the meeting I posted on Facebook that I was looking for models to help me do some creative photographic work that I’ve been thinking about doing.  After that meeting my creative juices started flowing.  Slowly, a sort of creative session is coming to mind.  Images that I’ve been looking at for inspiration on Pinterest have been letting me go further into what story I want to tell.
