Personal Note | The Roots | Rudy & Marta

It’s Rudy.  It’s currently 2:23 a.m. and I’m writing this personal post.  I know, it’s late.  I’ve always been a nocturnal type of person.  I remember my parents telling me to go to sleep at 8 or 9 o’clock when I was younger.  I never did listen well. 🙂

Anyways, lately, I’ve been looking around.  Trying to see things.  Trying to really see things.  I remember when I first got my very own DSLR I would take pictures of just about anything.  I didn’t care if it was as intense as a view from a mountain top or as mundane as an over dried raisin; if I thought it looked cool, then I’d take a picture of it.  When Marta and I decided to get a Lensbaby, we knew it would be an interesting tool to bring along for any session.

Recently, I’ve begun to kind of push myself further with it.  I feel that as a photographer I’m evolving.  I’m not sure where it is that I’m going.  There are so many ways to “classify” a photograph.  Is it abstract or fine art?  Is it photo-journalistic?  What is it that I’m trying to express?  What is it that I’m trying to show people?

“It’s amazing how you and I can see the same thing, but see something completely different.  Everyone has their own personal interpretation of the world.”

There’s something that I’ve learned jumping from blog to blog, site to site.  Each photographer has their own view on the world.  They each have a very different interpretation of what’s around them.  It’s amazing how you and I can see the same thing, but see something completely different.  Everyone has their own personal interpretation of the world.  Enough of that though.

The whole reason why I started writing this post was because I feel like there’s something different that I’m starting to see.  The little details that seemed to intrigue me when I first put my hands on a camera aren’t the same details anymore.  I can’t explain it.  It’s just different.  I guess it’s a chance to reinvent myself from a photographic stand point.  I’ve looked at other photographers and have begun to appreciate more things about photography.  It’s not just about taking a great image anymore, but rather creating one.  I won’t lie when I say that I have much to learn.  I’m not the best photographer in the world, but people tell me that I am my worst critic.  Who knows?  Maybe they’re right, but there’s always room for improvement.

I’ve begun to start showing more of my “artistic” work.  Things that I’ve never really showed to anyone since Marta and I started the business.  Yeah, I showed it to some friends on Facebook and stuff, but I was just a guy with a camera.  Here…I mean it.  At this point, I feel like this is something that I can be proud of.  I feel like I could show this to someone, and not be ashamed.  Check out some of the work on my Purephoto profile.  Below is a small sample of what there is to come.  I try to take at least one or two awesome images a week.

To all my friends, new and old, and my family who supports me…Thank you.  Whether you’re over seas or across the street, it means a lot to have your support.

P.S. Currently listening to Angel Milk.  They’re an awesome French Techno-trio.  Yes, I listen to Techno from time to time.  It’s my nerd-ism. Yes, I just made that up. 😉

P.P.S.  Here’s some of the stuff that I’ve posted in PurePhoto.
