Photography Tips: Simple ways to make your photos rock | Rudy & Marta

When Marta and I started out, we kind of went head first into the deep end.  Photography tips weren’t things that we went looking for, not because we didn’t care, but because we didn’t know any better.

“I was searching the web for photography tips.  I have this idea of composing scenes with my photography.”

Earlier today I was looking around and thinking of ways to make my photography better.  I was searching the web for photography tips.  I have this idea of composing scenes with my photography.  That’s my next personal challenge.  See, I’ve always wanted to focus on the emotion in my images.  I’ve always wanted you, the viewer, to feel the way the person in my images is feeling.

I love feeling love and joy.  I love feeling like I’ve captured that. As I look at my past work I look at what I did right, and what I did wrong.  I’m not sure if I’ve said this before and if I have I have to reiterate the fact that I am my own worst critic.  I knit pick.  I’m never happy with my own work, always looking for ways to better my photography.  There’s probably a handful of images that I’m truly happy with.  The ones that I am happy with I’ve noticed a similar set of patterns.  There are a couple of things that are always just there.  There are things that I wish someone had told me in some list of photography tips or a blog post about it or something.  Anyways, here goes.

Photography Tips that Anyone Can Use

1.Composition: Ah, the mother load of styled shoots, weddings, senior portraits, blog posts containing photography tips, and all other things related to art (not just photography).  At it’s core, composition is the act of putting things together to form a piece of art, music, or literature.  It’s as simple as that.  Personally, I believe that there is beauty in simplicity.  I like my images to be clean and to the point.  Usually that point is how awesome my subject is.  That’s just me.  Other people like clutter, well…organized clutter would be a better way to say it.  It’s not that it’s a bad thing or anything.  There’s a certain beauty to chaos as well.  In the end, it’s whatever the photographer envisions; it’s whatever the individual envisions.  It’s whatever you envision. Consider checking out this article to find out more.  I’ve learned a lot of photography tips from there.

2.The Rule of Thirds:  I think that this is the easiest and simplest form of changing a picture from boring to awesome.  Pretty much you take your viewfinder and imagine that there is three lines going horizontally and three going vertically.  If your subject lands on one of those three points, then you’re golden.  It’s an easy way to add awesome-sauce to your photos.  Try it out.  Grab your phone and try it, right now. I hope these help.  Feel free to post any of the images that you take on our wall.  I’d love to see what you all come up with.

Until next time,

Rudy
