Best Pre Wedding Drink: The Start of a Series | Wedding Tips

Working behind a bar teaches you many things.  Aside from patience and acceptance, you also learn a lot about alcohol.  There are so many different kinds and there are so many different ways to distil/ferment them all in different fashions.  I’ll be the first to say that I’m no Sommelier or Cicerone (Beer Sommelier).  Everything that I’ve learned has been from personal experience.  I’m no alcoholic, but I do know what I like and how I like it.  I appreciate alcohol for what it is, in a sense.  I appreciate it enough to suggest a best pre wedding drink.

Anyways, I wanted to try something new here.  It’s going to be your big wedding day.  Being an Orlando Wedding Photographer, I’ve seen it all.  I’ve been there for the things that happen backstage.  When you attend a wedding, you don’t really see the things that happen backstage.  The hustle and bustle, the stress, and the hiccups all happen while trying to remain somewhat near a timeline that was made.  For myself, I end up helping the groom and the groomsmen getting dressed and looking their best.  For most of them, they’ve never worn a tux, and, in some cases, they’ve never worn a suit.  That’s where I come in.  I go in and help in any way that I can.  As a photographer, I’m a hipster (in a sense).  I’m also a nerd, and not in the sense that I have all this useless knowledge about tech (which I do).  But more in the sense that I have a topic to pick a topic and learn as much as I can about that topic.  That’s when the whole idea of getting the best pre wedding drink came into mind.  I was hell bent on finding one that I could recommend to clients.

I’ve picked up alcohol.  I’m done drinking until I hug a toilet for the rest of the evening.  Now I’m more into getting alcohol that tastes good.  Alcohol that has character.  I’ve been leaning more towards scotch as of late, but bourbon and whiskeys, in general, have caught my eye.  The brown liquor has always caught my eye.  That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy vodka, gin, rum, or tequila.  Boy…do I love beer.  I can also appreciate wine, but that’s a whole different blog on its own.  There’s so much of it.  I can appreciate it all.  Everything has a different taste.  Everything has a unique character that makes it all different.  Kind of like every wedding.  Every couple.  Every groom and bride (along with their unique relationships with their party members).  Alongside with ever pre wedding toast.

“It’s your wedding day for Christ’s Sake.  Find the best pre wedding drink that speaks about who you are.  Don’t celebrate it by drinking the cheap crap that you can buy at the corner pharmacy.”

For your wedding day, you want to have something that tastes good.  You want something that speaks to who you are.  You want something that’s going to help you celebrate your day and everything that you’ve been able to attain.  It’s your wedding day for Christ’s Sake.  Find the best pre wedding drink that speaks about who you are.  Don’t celebrate it by drinking the cheap crap that you can buy at the corner pharmacy.  Live a little.  Celebrate it.

To help people out, I’ll be listing different types of alcohol and the different flavor profiles.  I’ll also touch a little about how each alcohol is distilled/fermented and a little history about it.  Also, I’ll be recommending foods to pair with them.  With so many different types of alcohol, it’s hard to figure out what’s good and what’s not.  Too often do I see people that go to the bar not knowing what they like, so they go to a bar menu.  Alcohol being doused in juices and sugar hides the alcohol.  Like food, the spirit should be the star of the cocktail.  Most of the drinks I have are either on the rocks or neat.  This is simply a personal preference and to allow the alcohol to really sing.  It also helps in finding out the different characteristics in the alcohol.  It’ll help you choose your perfect pairing and make sure that you have the best pre-wedding drink.

I’ll get back to you in a few days with more information.  I’ll feature a new type of alcohol each month with more information about that unique alcohol.  Again, the entire goal of this is to make sure that you have the best pre wedding drink so that you can have a memorable time with your bridesmaids/groomsmen.

If there are any other pre wedding shenanigan drinks that you’d like for Rudy to go deeper into, then don’t hesitate to ask.  We’re always up for nerding out over why a certain beverage is better than others.  After all, if you’re getting married, then you only want the best. Nothing that a corner pharmacy store can provide.  Check out Total Wine and Spirits or ABC Liquor.  Heck, even your local Knightly Spirits have an awesome selection of great drinks.
