I’ll be the first to attest, I love bow ties. They’re awesome, they’re unique, and you’ll definitely stand out. I’ve always been a fan of doing things outside of the norm. It’s a lonely path most of the time, but it can have the most fun. Most people don’t really like going outside of the norm. I get that. People want to fit in and they want to be accepted by others. It’s funny though because the person that stands out and is unique is usually the one that’s seen as the coolest. They’re seen as the one that’s got it all together, even if they don’t.
“…I love bow ties. They’re awesome, they’re unique, and you’ll definitely stand out.”
Anyways, I don’t want to make this into a psychological breakdown of what is what when it comes to “Who is cool?” and “How to be cool.” This is a post about my love of the bow tie. Something so simple and elegant is overlooked all of the time. I’m glad that more and more celebrities are bringing it back into fashion. It’s something that can make an outfit really cool, in my opinion. Too many people wear traditional ties.
I was walking down River Street after shooting a wedding in Savannah, Georgia last month and I had so many compliments on my bow tie just by walking down the street. It’s something that most people don’t see. Granted, not everyone can pull off the look or don’t want to put in the effort of pulling off the look.
Never go for the clip on. Always go for the real thing. It’s another wow factor. It’s somewhat of a half measure having a clip on bow tie. It’s not hard. Anyone can do it. Once you get it down, tying a bow tie takes less than half a minute. Heck, I can knock it out in less than that. Regardless, always go with a real bow tie and not a clip on. The same thing can go for normal neck ties as well.
“My thing is to wear bow ties. Stand out. Get the pocket square going. You’ll be the life of the party.”
Whether you want to wear normal ties or bow ties, you should head over to The Tie Bar and check out what they have. I’ve found some pretty awesome bow ties there. Highly recommend this, people.
My thing is to wear bow ties. Stand out. Get the pocket square going. You’ll be the life of the party. You’ll get noticed. Trust me. People always notice the guys that stand out, and a bow tie is definitely the way to stand out at a party, in my honest opinion.

P.S. I personally prefer stripped or flannel bow ties to add more versatility to the bow tie. Solids are pretty boring. Remember, you want to stand out. Here’s some of my collection.
P.P.S. Here’s a quick video that I found online that’s actually really good at describing how to tie a bow tie.
P.P.P.S. Bow ties are always classy!
