Ritz Carlton Wedding | One Love Styled Shoot | Photography

Everyone wants a Ritz Carlton Wedding.  The Ritz Carlton has always been a symbol of luxury, quality, and perfection.  Going on property, you almost feel as if you’re in another world.  The property is gorgeous.  The grounds are so big that it is easy to get lost.  The rooms are on point and are ridiculously comfortable.  But enough about the hotel.  What I really want to talk about is the One Love event that kind of blew my mind.

See, here’s the thing.  I have always had friends of mine that have been part of the LGBTQ community.  I never really thought of all of the legal boundaries that there are.  Bernadette Smith from Gay Wedding Institute was able to shed so much light at the One Love Ritz Carlton Wedding.   She brought up recent articles and news videos of what people in the LGBTQ Community have to face in a constant basis.  Having to deal with going from state to state and your marriage being recognized in some places and not in others.  It’s the 21st century for Christ’s Sake!  Politicians need to stop being old bigots and let people be! /rant

Bernadette was able to give us a new perspective on everything that’s going on in the world.  It also gave us a no-BS approach to same-sex weddings.  I’ll admit, I was lost when it came to approaching a same-sex wedding.  How does the timeline play out for a same-sex wedding?  How does the wedding flow?  I’m so glad that I took the One Love Ritz Carlton Wedding workshop that Gay Wedding Institute provided.  I was able to learn so much and I was able to capture some images before hand.  The most beautiful part of it all was that they were real couples.  They were able to have their love showcased in full swing.

Whenever I do any sort of styled shoot where there is more than one person, whether it be a couple or not, it’s important that they know each other.  I’ve gotten better interactions when the couple is a real couple in a shoot versus two models that don’t really know each other.

The four couples that were at the shoot were seriously on point and they were able to go and just be themselves.  I mean, Marta and I don’t like to force people into uncomfortable poses.  It’s so much easier to be close to someone you know versus someone that you don’t.  This is why I’d rather have “couples” at any styled shoot be real couples.  The One Love Ritz Carlton Wedding Shoot was on point in the sense that they were able to be themselves and just let loose.  The love was real.  Heck, the love was gushing out of the seams.  And I’m okay with that.  It was awesome.  In the end, we got our very own listing on the MRSter Wedding Site, which Marta and I didn’t expect at all.  It was a heck of a good time.

A special thanks to Kathy Thomas, Bernadette Smith, The Ritz Carlton, and everyone else that made it possible.  Myself, as well as the other attendees, had a blast and learned a lot.  I recommend anyone interested in learning more to go to Gay Wedding Institute to educate yourself and see what our friends, neighbors, and community are facing everyday.  To have your civil rights denied is absurd.  Check it out.
