Modern Engagement Session at Lake Eola | Haley & Jalen

Marta and I know that there’s always this moment after we talk with a couple for a bit and realize whether or not we would be a good fit for each other.  When we met Haley and her mom at the TheXpos Wedding Show, we almost immediately knew that we would be the perfect fit for each other.  I didn’t meet Jalen until later on during their engagement session, but that was totally okay.  They’re cool people and their story is perfect.  Both of them living in St. Petersburg made their modern engagement session in Lake Eola a little bit of an adventure.

When we were talking about engagement session locations, Downtown Orlando was automatically the place they wanted to go to.  The exact location of the engagement session was another topic altogether.  Eventually, we all decided that Lake Eola would be the best place to go to.  I was glad because I had photographed couples there before.  Initially, we met at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.  I wanted to begin the session in a different location than where we usually start it.

As we were walking around and talking photos, we talked more and more about their wedding inspiration and what they had in mind.  We walked around looking for murals and artwork.  By the end of the engagement session, we were chasing light as the sun was setting over the cityscape.  I’m so glad that Haley and Jalen went to Lake Eola for their engagement session.  I always feel a little bit more familiar with the couple after an engagement session.  It’s like it prepares me for their wedding day.  I feel like we were a little closer by the end of the modern engagement session.  Marta and I are stoked for their wedding and can’t wait for their wedding at the Ballroom at Church Street.  Check out their engagement pictures below!  Let us know what you think in the comments.
