Groom Portraits aren’t necessarily a thing. At least I wouldn’t think it is. Here in the good, old South, Bridal Portraits are a thing. Even though some may think that bridal portraits are getting out of style, they are still pretty important and a good way to really let your wedding creativity run free. In the midst of it all, everything is focused on the bride. That is to say, the majority of things are focused on the bride and her portraits. Not much is said or done about groom portraits. I firmly believe that they are just as important as the bridal portraits.

Obviously, there’s a certain masculinity when it comes to the portraits of a groom versus that of a bride. I’m not going to be looking for fields of flowers or hidden groves or anything of the sort. No, no , no. I’d rather take you into an area that would exude less femininity and more masculinity. Nothing against you ladies, but us guys want to look bad ass as we shoot. Given the circumstances, I want to make sure that the best of the best images are photographed. I want to make sure that the groom portraits that we deliver are exactly what you (the groom) wants.
Recently, I shot a wedding at The Alfond Inn. It was awesome because we were able to knock out a large chunk of the formals before the ceremony. The bride and groom didn’t have a first look, but everything worked out just right. It was great. It was pretty hot, like it typically is in any Florida wedding. I tried to take their formals as quick as possible. I was able to get the guys together and take some images of them. Each individually and then together in a group. Anyways, the groom portraits came out great. So did the groomsmen’s portraits. I played around with some techniques that I had recently learned. Everything worked out beautifully. Check them out.
