Juicing, Berry Citrus Juice | Personal | Rudy & Marta

I’ve been juicing regularly now.  It’s pretty much part of my day to day routine.  I still feel great, and I’m still trying to not eat any junk food.  I’m trying to be an all natural kind of guy.  I haven’t gotten my doctor’s blessing on going into a juice fast yet.  I still have to pass it by him.  If all checks out well, then I’ll be able to start a 10-Day Juice Fast.  We’ll see how it goes.  I remember the last time my doctor said that my triglycerides were way too high.  I guess I was eating too much rice and other carbs.  I’ve got to lay back on those.  I don’t want to follow in my parents footsteps.

“I’ve been juicing regularly now.  It’s pretty much part of my day to day routine.”

Juice Fasting is kind of what I want to do.  I want to cleanse my body from all of the processed crap that I’ve had over the years.  It’s like we all know that it’s bad to go to McDonald’s and get a Quarter Pounder, but who stops us.  Especially when it’s so convenient and relatively cheap.  Just like all of the food that we consume outside of our kitchen.  Almost everyone knows that 2,000 calories is our suggested intake, but no one really considers how much you take in.  Going out for dinner?  Sounds easy enough, but an entree in an average restaurant will easily be over 1,000 calories.  There’s half of your daily intake right there.  This morning Marta was eating an Otis Spunkmeyer Banana Nut Muffin.  They’re super delicious, but one muffin has 500 calories, not to mention the fat content in it.  Now every once in awhile a little treat like that is okay, but I used to eat one or two a day.

Back when I got out of high school I was eating junk food left and right and threw my health out the window.  I’m currently 24, balding, over weight (according to my BMI [Body Mass Index]), and I feel like I’m on the verge of diabetes.  Noticed how I said I “feel”.  That’s because my doctor hasn’t flat out told me, but he has hinted that I’m on the track of getting pre-diabetes.

Anyways, I’ve experimented and tried new juices lately.  I have an arsenal of fruits and vegetable.  Some juices have been great…and others not so much. I thought this was kind of like cooking and measure with heart and not exact measurements, but I was wrong.  That is a distasteful lie.  One of my personal favorites (as well as Marta’s) is what we like to call Berry Citrus Juice.  It’s a very plain name…I know, but hear me out.

Juicing

All that’s in it is:

1/2 Cup of Blueberries
1/2 Cup of Strawberries
2 Oranges
1 Carrot

That’s for a single serving.  Use the recipe accordingly.  Marta and I just double everything for us.  It’s definitely a great pick-me-up in the morning.  And the berries fill you up really well.

That’s all for now.  Until next time,

-Rudy
