Coffee Bar | Drunken Monkey | Rudy & Marta Photography

A coffee bar is a term that I’m not too familiar with.  I mean, we all know what a bar is, but I’ve never actually gone to a coffee bar.  That’s kind of unheard of in my world.  Marta, Jessica, and I headed out into the world on Tuesday.  We went to Tako Cheena, which is an awesome place, and had some tacos before meeting up with a model.  We ran into one of our friends while she was on break from school.  Afterwards, we decided to go ahead and buy some film for our new cameras over at Colonial Photo and Hobby off of 50 and Mills.  Got a couple of rolls and we were off to meet up with our model.

“…we all know what a bar is, but I’ve never actually gone to a coffee bar.”

Well, it turns out that the model that we had canceled last minute, which kind of sucks, but fret not!  We found a hidden gem that I had no idea existed.  We decided to go to Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar.  After my visit to Vespr, I had very little hope that I’d find a place with so much character and awesomeness.  In comes Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar with it’s own spin on craft coffee.  To call oneself a coffee bar is something unique to me.  Heck, there could be multiple coffee shops in the world hosting the same style and spin on coffee, but alas, this was my first experience.

Marta, Jess, and I spent a good couple of hours talking about what we’re doing with our respective photography businesses.  Jessica has a unique eye when it comes to her lifestyle photography.  We always leave our little pow-wow sessions feeling inspired and ready to take on the world of photography, whether it be wedding, lifestyle, or whatever.

The coffee in this place was awesome.  The atmosphere made it more awesome.  A certain type of grunge look that is rarely seen as a “successful” business by today’s (and southern) outlook on what a business should be.  A bar is somewhat what it felt like.  A coffee bar simply suits what it is.  It’s a great name and I’ll be going back sometime in the near future.  Especially, if I’m in the area, because it’s on the other side of the world for me.  Actually, for all three of us.
