What to wear for Your Engagement Session | Tips for Brides and Grooms

What to wear for your engagement session?  Engagement outfits and the number to bring to an engagement session are an understandable question.  There’s  absolutely nothing wrong with that either.  Having more than one outfit for your engagement session is totally okay.  Try to have outfits that compliment each other.  You would want to have outfits that are in the same color spectrum or complimenting colors.  You two would want engagement outfits that you would wear to a date.

What to Wear for Your Engagement Session?

Awhile ago, I talked about why you should have an engagement session.  Here’s my main concern.  If you are to have an engagement session, make it worth your while.  Obviously, this is all just my opinion on it all, but I still think an engagement session is a way to go with our Together Session.  If you’re struggling for engagement outfits, let us know.

As couples start to put things together for their engagement session, I always recommend that they bring a pair of comfortable shoes.  We are going to be walking a lot for about an hour.  It’s nothing vigorous or anything of that sort, but it’s always easier to be romantic when your feet aren’t hurting.  Based on experience, I’ve seen engaged brides switch between heels and flats with ease during an engagement session.  Totally worth it to bring flats.

What I really want to get into is when I see a couple come with an entire closet in their trunk.  I get it, it’s there just in case.  There’s nothing wrong with that either.  “Just in case” is exactly why those outfits are there, but you don’t need to wear every single one of them.

Sometimes you might not use all your engagement Outfits.

Fortunately, Marta and I haven’t had any issues like that with any of the couples that we’ve worked with.  Every time that we have worked with a couple, there was just enough time for two or three engagement outfits.  That’s it.  There wasn’t any more time for it.

In the past, it was hard to stop photographing a couple for a change to another outfit.  It’s pretty much all logistics, but I hate to mess things up when the couple is in the groove of things.  I just don’t want to kill that level of comfort and ease once the couple gets there.

In the end, I just want to make sure that I get awesome engagement pictures, no matter what you two are wearing.  Just a heads up, if you bring three engagement outfits or a million, know that there’s only enough time for two to three of them.  Keep that in mind the next time you ask yourself what to wear for your engagement session.
