John Mayer, One of My Guilty Pleasures | Rudy & Marta Photography

Today John Mayer released a new album.  The little girl inside me screamed for joy.  I know, I know.  This has nothing to do with photography.  Let alone wedding photography, though John Mayer has some good songs that girls like.

I, as a guy, have some likes that I publicly don’t really share in person that much.  At least not until you’re one of my nearest and dearest.  I guess I’ll go ahead and admit that if you’re reading this, then you are a nearest and dearest.  If you don’t know yet, then I’ll let you in on a secret: I’m a nerd.  I’m pretty proud of it, to say the least.  I’ve always believed that people should accept who others are.  Any who, I’ve developed a liking to certain things.  My musical taste for one isn’t where most people go.  I’ve gone through it all.  My techno, my rock, grunge, soft rock, hard rock, alternative, Dave Matthews (when he went all electric guitar on us), John Mayer, heck…you get the idea.

I’ve been playing guitar for about 5 1/2 years.  I’m nowhere near the best.  I do it for fun and personal enjoyment.  John Mayer’s guitar skills (see: John Mayer Trio) is what led me to buy my first guitar.  Music was my first artistic pleasure before photography.  Jack Johnson also inspired that too.

“John Mayer is someone that most guys simply choose to ignore.”

John Mayer is someone that most guys simply choose to ignore.  Even some musicians that I know just don’t want anything to do with him.  Maybe it’s because John picked up a guitar when he was inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughn or Jimi Hendrix that makes me respect him.  Maybe it’s because lyrically he’s awesome, in my opinion.  I don’t know, but I’ve always enjoyed his music.  Granted lately he’s been on the strange side of things, but he still knows how to play guitar.

Continuum” is by far the best studio album, but I recommend going with “TRY!”.  It just has a better crunch to it.  Plus I love live albums.  There’s something about it that just seems musically awesome and true.

There’s another look at what goes on in my brain.  Until next time.

I hope all is well,

Rudy

P.S. I listen to Coldplay and I’m not gay.

P.P.S.  Here’s a picture of my first guitar.  God, I love that thing.
