Today I did something that might seem small to some. Heck, it might seem small to none. I took a step in a direction that kind of humbles me. I’ve always been a lover of portraits. Beautiful things happen if those portraits are done right with someone that just clicks with you. Call it a muse if you will. Anyways, I’ve always been on the prowl for beautiful photography. I’ve always been looking for things to inspire me. There are some AMAZING photographers out there. People that have a style that I just love. It doesn’t mean that I’d want to follow in their footsteps. I’d rather carve my own path.
It still doesn’t stop me from looking in awe at how beautiful everything is. Like everything that’s out there these days, it’s a social network. It’s a social network for photographers. No, it’s not Instagram. We’re talking about people that travel to distinct parts of the world in pursuit of that image that just speaks to them. They’re in pursuit of that image that they only hope others will understand. They’re an artist and choose to their cameras as their brushes. Some people photograph people and others photograph buildings. They photograph whatever they want.

This website is called 500px. I’ve uploaded a couple of things from my Purephoto account onto my new 500px account. It’s nothing against Purephoto. Not by any means. I’ve just noticed that the social element to it isn’t…well…social. This is where 500px thrives. I feel like I can meet other photographers a lot easier on here than anywhere else. Don’t get me wrong, Facebook is still king (though lately their stocks suck). I just feel like it’s Instagram’s big brother. A more serious and mature bigger brother.
What do I do with all of this awesome photography in front of me? I get inspired. I get humble. I strap on my FM-10 and go out and snap some shots. I get the film developed and rock out those images. All in hoping that this community of photographers like what I produce. We as humans hate rejection. Hopefully I won’t be. I’ll let you all know how it goes. Check out my page.
