Emotions | Connecting with Your Photographer | Wedding Tips

Emotions run high all around a wedding.  Wedding season is right around the corner.  People are trying to hit deadlines.  People are trying to book the last bit of help needed in order to make their special day comes true.  Obviously, I’m a little biased, but photography is something that can’t be skimped out on.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: once everything is said and done, your images are all you have left from your wedding day.  It’s a very important part of the day that will last a lifetime.  I will say that there are several people that are out there that don’t really appreciate what Marta and I do to the full extent.  Maybe they don’t understand what we do.  Maybe they think that it’s something that is as simple as pushing a button.  If it were only so.

“If you don’t feel comfortably with [your wedding photographers], then they won’t be able to capture those emotions.”

I’ll be honest here.  There’s literally plenty of business to be had by anyone, even with the insane amount of photographers out there.  Here’s some advice for brides (though grooms can use it too).  Get a photographer that you like and connect with at an emotional level.  If you don’t feel comfortably with them, then they won’t be able to capture those emotions.  I cannot stress this enough.  The day of the wedding we’re literally attached to you like white on rice.  It’s so important that I sincerely can’t stress it enough.  I mean it.  I can’t stress it enough.  Stressing, but not enough here.

We’re going to be next to you the entire day.  We’re going to be seeing you all the time.  We’re going to be watching every waking moment of your day.  We’re simply going to be there.  On top of that, we’re going to do things to help you out that you haven’t done before.  We’ve done a couple of weddings.  We know how they go.  It’s almost like a dance or riding a bike.  Once you’ve done it a couple of times, it just comes naturally.  We’ve been able help out our couples in the most random times.  Whether it’s helping tie a bow tie or helping stitch something, we’ve seriously done it all.

“It’s when you feel comfortable that those emotions will show in the images.”

I digress.  What I’m trying to get across is that you have to connect with your photographer emotionally.  If not, then those emotions that you have will have won’t be out in the open.  It’s so easy to feel closed.  It’s so easy to hide those emotions from someone you don’t know.   It’s difficult exposing who you two are.  It’s difficult exposing your relationship.  Feeling comfortable is something that we need to get into the mix of things when talking about working together.  It’s important.  If you feel uncomfortable, then it’ll show in the images.  It’ll show in the pictures.  It’s when you feel comfortable that those emotions will show in the images.
